    The following request came in to the Melrose Ped/Bike Committee:

    I'm a Melrose resident who rides a bicycle to Oak Grove to commute to work. However, the road on the northbound side (Oak Grove into Melrose) is becoming unsafe due to debris, small rocks and dirt, on the side of the road meaning I have to either ride over the top of the dirt which is unstable or ride into the middle of the lane causing issues with motor vehicles who do not move over enough. This is made worse by the fact that it is normally dark when I am making the return commute.

    This has only become an issue with the construction at 37 Washington Street and I'm sure will be an ongoing issue until the construction is complete and therefore it would be appreciated if it would be possible to periodically clean that side of the road to make it safer for bicycles.

    Traffic Light on Route 60 at Holden Street has been flashing yellow since last Thursday (12/17/2015) and pedestrian crossing button no longer does anything.

    Now that the snow has melted, the bike lanes on lower Broadway (south of Route 16) are filled with dirt, glass, and other road debris.
    Can you run a street sweeper through there?

    Thanks for the snow clearing work on the path. The bulk of it is passable and carrying commuter traffic. Could use another pass though, especially in the stretch between Salemwood school and Maplewood Street, and next to the parking lot between Main St and Ferry St.

    The shoulder of route 99 northbound on the Alford st bridge is littered with sharp metal shavings. Ends at the scrap metal dealer at the Everett border.

    The asphalt surface curving around Swain's Pond is reminiscent of the road to Kandahar after a bad day. Bikes end up out in the middle of the road picking their way around potholes on a blind curve. Unfortunately, this stretch probably requires more than a quick patch job. If you can find a way to smooth it out this year, that would be great.

    Everett has been doing a great job salting and clearing snow on the bike path after every storm this winter. Except this week... it is relatively impassable.
    The path from the southern end to Madeline English school is covered in snow. Did clearing stop because it is school vacation week? Demand is still high -- there are hundreds of footprints in the snow.
